Artist

Kolton (Kolt) Lucius Sizer is an American Artist hailing from the Midwest. He earned his BFA in drawing and painting with a minor in sculpture from Indiana University South Bend in 2019 and his MFA in 2D Studio Art from Bowling Green State University in 2022. Sizer’s work has been exhibited in a number of international and national exhibitions and currently has work on loan at Indiana University South Bend.

Sizer’s work draws from film, narrative theory, the American class system, gender roles, and behavioral science to explore how experiences shape our comprehension of events and relationships. The work created often utilizes high-contrasting light sources and the human figure following an unseen “inciting incident” to create fragmented narratives depicting trepidation and fatalist ideologies. Focusing on the use of heavy darks and stark lights, the use of light and shadow form exaggerated emotions and build tension within the works.

Currently, Sizer is working as an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame where he teaches figurative drawing, and at Indiana University South Bend teaching sculpture.
